How do we qualify as 'specialists'?

Currently, there are only 10 diplomates (Dipl.EVDC) in the UK - and only 60 in the rest of Europe - who can legally call themselves specialists. Gerhard Putter is one of them.

To be legally recognised as a veterinary specialist, the vet must have undergone advanced training in order to obtain Diploma status within their particular field of expertise. They must also meet other stringent criteria within the clinical work and research they are taking on as well as in the training of other veterinary professionals they partake in. Specialist status is the highest level of acknowledgement you can achieve as a veterinary professional and doing so is extremely difficult - just like maintaining it.

The expertise of Gerhard Putter is now even more accessible for referring cases. Developed by Gerhard, Specialist Dental Vet is a new multi-site practice operating from a number of established practices in the East of England, ensuring an easy referral process for clinicians, clients and patients, and with services extending to both new referral cases and follow up examinations.

The modern purpose-built dental facilities house the latest up-to-date equipment, supported by a dental nursing team. In addition to this the practice proudly offers a dedicated dental suite, plus in house diagnostic imaging of dental radiography for effective diagnosis.

Should a patient require hospitalisation following a referral procedure, they will be admitted to Vets Now Colchester, who have a committed nursing team to provide around the clock care for all admitted patients. Byre Veterinary Referrals

Byre Veterinary Referrals offer patients first class and comprehensive facilities, and are proud to house an extremely well equipped dental suite for both medical and surgical cases in a dedicated dental suite. On-site digital radiography and an in-house laboratory allow for quick diagnosis and treatment.

Should a patient require hospitalisation following a referral procedure, the practice's committed nursing team provide routine checks throughout the night.
